This course is not accredited but will give participants the knowledge and understanding to be able to assist the person in charge to carry out first aid duties and responsibilities within the health and social care setting. The course will cover practical and theory for a range of first aid situations as set out in the course content. The training session will be delivered by a person with an up to date first aid certificate and a teaching qualification in-line with regulations that came into effect in October 2015.

Aim:

To give all participants knowledge and demonstrate practical competence for the administration of safe, prompt and effective first aid in some emergency situations.

The course content:

The course is divided into eight modules and includes an assessment at the end:

The role and responsibilities of an emergency first aider.
Assessment of an incident.
Unresponsive person who is breathing.
Unresponsive person who is not breathing, CPR.
Choking.
Bleeding.
Shock.
Head injury.

Certification:

A certificate of attendance is awarded on completion of the course; this is subject to satisfaction of the instructor and at the end of the course assessments..
